While the car has the general appearance of a Lotus 7, it is not a Lotus. It, therefore, wouldn't be right to grace it with the Lotus name.
Cars built from the Ron Champion plans tend to be called Locosts. However, having put so much effort into redesigning and building the car, I felt I was justified in giving it a name that reflected my efforts.
Hence the name CLL ONE-7. It derives from, firstly, my initials "CLL", followed by "ONE-7", ie the first Lotus 7-type car I have built. Run the two together and you arrive at CLLONE 7, which is what it is - a clone Lotus 7.
And that's what is entered in the V5 Registration Document -
Make: CLL
Model: One-7
